Pepe runs Snow Riders Academy and has spent eleven seasons teaching in Sierra Nevada. He holds the level 2 Técnico Deportivo qualification in both disciplines, alpine skiing and snowboarding, which lets him teach either one independently.

He also writes the technical content for the school's guide, which is published in Spanish: the articles on gear and technique come from his own judgement on the mountain, not from a copied manual.

What the qualification means«Qualified instructors» doesn't say much. This does.

In Spain, teaching skiing or snowboarding requires an official qualification issued through the state education system, with three levels. It isn't an in-house course each school invents for itself. Here are the levels, so you can read what any school claims — not just ours.

TD1Técnico Deportivo, level 1: The first level of the official qualification. It covers teaching at beginner levels.
TD2Técnico Deportivo: The full qualification. It covers teaching independently on the slopes, at every level.
TD3Técnico Deportivo Superior: The highest level, aimed at coaching competitors and technical direction.
